ASH WEDNESDAY : Wednesday is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of Lent and is a day of Fast and Abstinence. In addition to the morning Mass in Miltown there will be Mass in Moy at 7.30 p.m. Ashes will be blessed and distributed at both Masses.
TRÓCAIRE LENTEN APPEAL : Trócaire Boxes will be distributed through the schools and are available in the Church porches, the Sacristy and the Parish Office.
PRIESTS COLLECTION : The Lenten collection for the Priests of the Parish will be taken up next week-end. Envelopes are in our boxes .
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL : There will be a meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council in the Parish Meeting Room on Tuesday 28 th Feb.at 8 p.m.
PANCAKE PARTY : St. Joseph 's National School Parent and friends Association will hold a fundraising Pancake Party at the School on Shrove Tuesday 21 st February from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30. Pancakes hot off the pan, teas, coffees and biscuits will be available. Pancakes to take away will also feature so bring a container to take some home on the day!!
THANKS : Sincere thanks to all who filled out and returned the tax rebate forms during 2011. The parish received €5,291.41from the tax office as a result. Míle Buíochas.

BADMINTON : Well done to the following Miltown members who brought back medals & trophies from County Blitz held in Scariff. Saoirse Reidy, Flann Cunningham, Ben Whelehan, Colin Hehir & William Winder. LENT – SEASON OF PRAYER, RECONCILIATION AND PENANCE: In imitation of Christ and in response to his call, we are all obliged to do penance as an expression of inner conversion and a form of reparation for sin, motivated by love of God and of our neighbour. This takes the form of prayer, self denial and acts of charity. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Fasting means that the amount of food we eat is considerably reduced. Abstinence means that we give up a particular kind of food or drink or some form of amusement. Those over eighteen are bound by the law of fasting until the beginning of their sixtieth year. All over fourteen are bound by the law of abstinence.
ST JOSEPH'S LADIES FOOTBALL CLUB : Under 12 football training is resuming next Thursday evening 23 rd February at 6 p.m. in the football field. We welcome new players. The under 16 girls training is on Thursday evening 23 rd at 7 p.m. full attendance is requested.

To Mark AONTAS ADULT LEARNERS FESTIVAL the Community & Health Services Programme will host a Craft & Coffee Morning in the West Clare Family Resource Centre, Ballard Rd. , on Thursday Feb. 23 rd at 11.30 a.m. Come along and see what this local training initiative is all about and gain some insight into the benefits of adult learning.
